The result of my reflections
Taking time out and reflecting during regular intervals is one of the most important tools I have to ensure I am doing the right things with my life. In this post, I want to share the results of my reflections during the summer. To help you understand what happens I’ve taken the time to sit down and think deeply about my life.
I have categorised my reflections into overarching key areas, each with a specific goal that I want to achieve in that area of my life. Each area consists of what I will add to my existing practices, and what I should start doing, and I have also identified what to stop doing.
Business & Career
Goal: To work with and serve the right people, provide value, and help as much as possible. While doing so, I want to experience interesting days and have lots and lots of fun.
- I have evaluated the types of clients, projects, and people I want to work with. I now have a clear list of parameters and values against which I assess each request from a holistic perspective. This has led to a fantastic autumn so far, as I spend my days working on interesting, challenging projects that stretch my skills while allowing me to use my existing experience in new and enjoyable ways. I get to spend time with some really fantastic people, and I have had the most joyful start to the autumn.
- I also have a list of new projects to kick off, including new products and offerings that I am thrilled to launch.
- For my personal brand, I want to pivot to the next level and have a plan that I will execute during the autumn
Skills and Knowledge
Goal: Expand my knowledge and follow my intellectual curiosity.
- October: I will attend AI for the Rest of Us in London, armed with pen and paper, and probably plenty of coffee from my favourite Caffé Nero. 😉
- November: I will return to school on a part-time basis, starting one of the courses on my shortlist. (I have an extensive dream list.) By December I want to have an additional certification from a top university.
- Set aside time to practise my Italian once a week, and I have bought a visual dictionary.
- Continue ticking off my list of AI experiments, writing down my conclusions and sharing them.
- Keep meeting people who I find interesting and can learn from, continuing to have coffee with them.
- Create more continuity with members of my kitchen cabinet of advisors, meet one or several of them at least once a quarter.
Creativity
Goal: Set aside more time and schedule specific items in my calendar.
- Schedule regular sessions in the studio to transform my prototypes and sketches into ceramic pieces.
- Schedule times and days for painting and drawing, being more specific with these activities.
- Set aside time to cook and prepare food, from purchasing ingredients to allowing time to prepare food that takes time and effort. Even during the weekdays!
Social Life and Make memories for a lifetime
Goal: Ensure at least two non-work-related social engagements in my calendar each week.
- I have made a list of all the people I want to spend more time with, and I am making a focused effort to get these engagements into my calendar.
Health and Vitality
Goal: Increase my energy so that I can boost my cognitive capabilities, lift heavier, become stronger, increase muscle mass, and decrease body fat percentage.
Nutrition:
I reassessed my nutritional protocol after completing extensive bloodwork (53 markers), which led me to question the plant-based diet I have followed since I was 13. I have started incorporating eggs into my diet and have updated my supplement protocol as a first step.
I will do quarterly blood work, I guess I’m going further down he biohacking rabbit hole.
Exercise:
I already work out every day, and with the latest data, I have identified that I need at least one rest day each week.
Items to investigate for my 2025 UK trip; DEXA scan and NAD+ drip
Personal Development
Goal: Become the best version of myself.
- I have a list in this area that I am ticking off items on, however, this one I’m not quite ready to share this in such a public context. (Due to inappropriate behaviour from other people).
- I will research interesting and/or challenging “add-ons” to what I’m already doing, to help me grow as a person. I’m interested in everything from books to workshops, treatments and techniques.
Spirituality
Goal: expand my perspective
- Identify more spiritual books to read and podcasts to listen to
In closing
I hope this gives you an idea of what taking time out to reflect can result in, which are new choices and a realignment with yourself. I will make a follow-up in December where I will report back on my progress.
